Lambert House receives funding from Best Starts for Kids, a King County voter-approved initiative to support every baby born or child raised in King County to reach adulthood happy, healthy, safe, and thriving. With this funding, Lambert House launched 9 in-person peer support groups for LGBTQ+ youth in small and rural communities in 2019.
Since the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Lambert House has been serving youth from these and other small and rural communities with online peer support groups and programs, as well as new in-person groups, in-person outdoor events in many locations around King County. Online programs have worked well for youth in rural communities who may not be able to participate in-person, even if a group existed near them, for fear of being outed.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, and to continue serving youth that find attending in-person difficult, Lambert House will continue to offer online programs, as well as in-person activities across King County. Since the pandemic began, Lambert House has served youth who live in 81 of King County's 85 Zip Codes. Lambert House has held in-person LGBTQ+ youth events and/or hosted ongoing, in-person groups in 18+ locations including, but not limited to:

Volunteer Opportunities!
These groups would not be possible without volunteer facilitators that live or work in or near these communities. If you think you would be a good fit to facilitate a group in a smaller town or rural area of King County, please contact Laurie for more information and an application.
